Educational and devotional purposes. BibleWise is a study companion for personal Bible reading and reflection. AI-generated explanations are not theological pronouncements and may not align with any specific denomination. The App is not a substitute for pastoral guidance or professional counsel.
1. Information We Collect

When using BibleWise, you may provide:
- Account information (such as email address)
- Profile information (such as display name, denomination if you choose to share it, focus areas like prayer, anxiety, relationships, or grief)
- Reading-plan progress, reflections, notes, and bookmarks you create
- Questions, topics, or messages you submit to the AI study companion
- Quiz answers you submit on our website
- Subscription and billing details (processed by third-party providers)
- Feedback you choose to send us
b. Automatically Collected Information
We may automatically collect:
- Device type, operating system, and app version
- App usage activity (features used, session duration, reading-plan day)
- Crash logs and performance data
- Anonymous analytics data
We do not collect precise location data.
2. How We Use Your Information
- Generate AI explanations, on-demand verses, and study chat responses
- Personalize content based on your profile and reading progress
- Maintain your account, plan progress, and saved reflections
- Improve app performance and reliability
- Enforce usage limits and prevent abuse

3. AI Features and OpenAI
BibleWise's study companion, on-demand verse retrieval, and AI explanations are powered by OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C., San Francisco, CA). To make these features work, the following information is transmitted to OpenAI's API to generate your responses:
- Questions, topics, or messages you send for a reading or explanation
- Profile context you have shared in the app, such as your display name, denomination, or focus areas, when relevant to personalize the response
- Your current reading-plan day, recent passages, or bookmarks (when relevant)
- Quiz answers (when you take a quiz that produces an AI-generated result)
OpenAI processes this data solely to generate the requested response. Under OpenAI's API terms, data submitted via the API is not used to train OpenAI's models. You can review OpenAI's privacy policy at https://openai.com/privacy.
AI-generated explanations are produced automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or reflect interpretive choices that don't match your tradition. They are intended for educational and devotional reflection, and should not be relied upon as final theological authority.
Please avoid entering sensitive personal, legal, medical, or financial information into the App.
4. Rate Limiting
- AI interactions and on-demand requests may be subject to daily or monthly rate limits.
- Limits may vary by subscription tier.
- We reserve the right to modify limits at any time.
5. Subscriptions
BibleWise may offer a paid subscription that unlocks additional features, expanded study access, or removes usage limits. Free users may have limited access to certain features.
Payments are processed by third-party providers (such as Apple or Google). We do not store your full payment details.
6. Data Sharing
We share limited data with service providers that help us operate the App:
- Google Firebase (Google LLC) — cloud infrastructure, authentication, and database storage
- OpenAI (OpenAI, L.L.C.) — AI study and verse responses, as described in Section 3
- SendGrid (Twilio Inc.) — sending verification codes and support replies by email
- RevenueCat (RevenueCat, Inc.) — subscription management (if applicable)
- Mixpanel (Mixpanel, Inc.) — anonymous product analytics
- Apple App Store / Google Play — payment processing for subscriptions
Each provider is contractually obligated to protect your data and may only use it for the purposes for which it was shared. Only information necessary to operate the App is shared. We never sell your personal data.
7. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
8. Data Retention
We retain your information only as long as necessary to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and improve the product.
You may request deletion of your account at any time from within the App or by contacting us.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or request portability of your personal data, or withdraw consent where applicable.

10. Children's Privacy
BibleWise is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it.
