Wisdom is knowing how to live well in God's world. These Bible verses about wisdom speak to discernment, understanding, and seeking God for the choices you face.
But the LORD said to Samuel, Don't look on his face, or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for I don't see as man sees. For man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.
God teaches that people often judge by outward appearance, but He values the inner character and intentions. Unlike humans who focus on physical traits, God examines the heart, meaning true worth is based on inner qualities, not external looks or status.
The heavens declare the glory of God. The expanse shows his handiwork.
The sky and stars reveal God's greatness and power. Nature itself testifies to His existence and creativity. By observing the universe, people can recognize God's skill and majesty without needing words. The beauty and vastness of the heavens reflect His glory for all to see.
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.
God is the eternal Creator who made everything, including the universe and the earth, at the very start of time. This verse shows that God is the source of all existence, bringing order and life from nothing, establishing His authority over all creation from the beginning.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don't lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.
Rely completely on God rather than your own ideas or judgment. Recognize Him in every part of your life, seeking His guidance and wisdom. When you do this, He will direct your steps, leading you on the right path and helping you make wise decisions.
Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
Teaching children good values and guidance from an early age shapes their character and choices. When raised with proper direction, they are more likely to maintain those positive habits and principles throughout life, staying on a righteous path even as they grow older and face challenges.
For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven:
Life has a natural order where every event and action happens at the right moment. There is a specific time for all experiences, changes, and purposes in life, all governed by God's plan. Nothing occurs randomly; everything unfolds according to divine timing and purpose.
For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways, says the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
God’s thoughts and ways are far beyond human understanding and reasoning. What people think or plan is limited, but God’s wisdom and purposes are infinitely greater, higher, and more perfect. We cannot fully grasp His plans because His perspective surpasses ours completely.
He has shown you, O man, what is good. What does the LORD require of you, but to act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?
God wants people to live with fairness, kindness, and humility. Acting justly means treating others with fairness; loving mercy means showing compassion and forgiveness; walking humbly with God means living modestly and faithfully, recognizing God's authority and guidance in everyday life.
Don't be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.
Avoid following the patterns and values of the world around you. Instead, allow God to change your thoughts and attitudes deeply. This renewal helps you understand and live according to God’s good, pleasing, and perfect plan for your life, showing true spiritual transformation.
